It's also referred to as the grapefruit diet and the way that it's supposed to work is the citric acid is alleged to "burn up fat" in your stomach, as though it's some sort of furnace. The fact is though that your stomach already has its own supply of hydrochloric acid which is a far stronger acid.
So in the end, what really works if you want to lose weight and keep it "permanently off" is to adopt and stick to a sensible diet plan. Also if you do want to use a supplement consider something that's mild, and natural that contains caffeine and antioxidants. Caffeine is a "proven safe and effective" appetite suppressant and antioxidants work to keep your whole system healthy.
